2 Detroiters tabbed for Europe study trip Crains Detroit Business RUMBLINGS - February 06, 2011
Tonya Allen, a vice president at Detroit's Skillman Foundation, and Brian Balasia, CEO of Detroit-based Digerati Inc., are among 44 fellows selected by the Washington, D.C.-based German Marshall Fund of the United States to visit Europe for several weeks this year. The trip is to expose members to Europe's changing and growing nations.
Balasia departs later with month and plans to study how countries support the growth of small businesses and the commercialization of new technologies.
Allen leaves in June and plans to focus on the "people quotient" of economic transformation, such as talent development and regional cultural changes, for post-industrial cities like Detroit.
